Cyclone Hudhud has
strengthened and is now classified as a "very severe cyclonic storm."
It is expected to bring heavy rain and gusting winds as it comes closer to the
coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and then makes landfall on the forenoon of
Sunday. Eleven teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been
deployed in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh as the severe cyclone
'Hudhud' is expected to cross the Bay of Bengal coast on Oct 12.
Another four teams
are expected to reach the state by evening even as the government machinery in
the coastal districts remained on high alert. Heavy rain is expected in some districts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Extremely heavy rain is likely over East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram,
and Srikakulam districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh from 11th
Oct 2014 evening onwards.
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts from
tomorrow evening with wind speed ranging between 50 and 60 kmph.
