Raja Rani is an tamil Romantic - Comedy movie directed by debutante Atlee Kumar, who previously worked with Shankar as an assistant in Enthiran (2010) and produced by A. R. Murugadoss in association with Fox Star Studios. The film features Arya, Nayantara and Jai in the lead roles.

Arya and Nayantara play the role of husband and wife and in past Nayanthara loves Jai and Arya loves Nazriya, they loss their love and get into marriage, and the rest story is how they sort out their differences and finding a permanent solution for all the issues in a marriage form the storyline. It is all about their day-to-day problems and ego clashes. Sathyaraj plays Nayanthara's father role in this movie. Also he has different look in this movie. Then coming to the Santhanam plays a role of Arya's friend, he also has different getups in this movie.

The movie revolves around the love stories of the couples who decided to marry against their wishes. In Milana, the love between the couple grows with time, but in the latest flick, it bursts out all of a sudden as the movie starts nearing its climax. There are two love tracks in the movie. In fact, it is third with John (Arya) and Regina (Nayantara) falling in love by the end of the movie.

The trouble with the film is the weak story which can be told in one-line but runs for nearly three hours. On the downside, the emotions too are contrived and there are no smart dialogues. How many films have we seen the hero or heroine cancelling her trip at the airport, railway station or bus stop? Going back to the oldest trick in the book, Atlee selects a long drawn out climax at the new Chennai airport, for that mushy happy ending. The film has some similarity with Kannada flick Milana and there are traces of Mani Ratnam classic Mouna Ragam.

Atlee Kumar had been working on the script since the early half of 2012 and after narrating his script to Murugadoss, the pair decided to go ahead with the development of the film with Nayanthara and Arya in lead roles.
In a flashback segment, Nayanthara’s love interest played by Jai also plays a vital role in the movie. In the second half, we are told about Arya's love story. However, how the love blossoms between John and Regina?

The soundtrack for the film along with its official trailer was released on YouTube as well as 12 major South Indian TV channels on August 23, 2013, although a teaser for the film was released by Fox Star Studios on May 11, which went viral within a few days.

Sathyaraj does a cameo as heroine`s father and does it in style. Cast once again as hero`s best friend, adviser and love doctor, Santhanam does the job but is getting stale. GV Prakash`s music is definitely one of the highlights of the film. All songs are shot as montages and they are peppy. And cinematographer George C Williams camera is eye-catching with terrific visuals and colours.

Movie Rating : 3.5/5
