Sports channel Sony Six will
broadcast the Indian Premier League (IPL) players' auction that will take place
in Bangalore Feb 12-13. As the biggest IPL players' auction since the inaugural
edition of the Indian Premier League takes place on February 12 and 13, all
eyes will be on the leading names in world cricket that will go under the
hammer. The event will be broadcast live on both Sony Six and Sony Six HD and
also on Star Sports which will take place Feb 12 with an option to carry on to
Feb 13.
The auction will be conducted
by English auctioneer Richard Madley, who has been conducting the event since
the inaugural season in 2008. The 514-strong list features 219 capped players
(169 Indians and 50 overseas players) and 292 uncapped players (255 Indians and
37 overseas players). There is also a list 16 marquee players who will be the
first set of players to go under the hammer in the auctions. The marquee
players' list has been split into two sets of eight names each.
“This year’s auction is
probably one of the biggest that we’ll see as all teams will look for a major
revamp. Six will bring an in-depth perspective into the strategy each team has
chartered for the league, keeping the audience enthralled throughout the
event,” Sony Six Business Head Prasana Krishnan said.
