Walmart Black Friday 2013 deals start 6 p.m On Thanksgiving Day | Walmart Working Hours on Thanksgiving Day | Walmart Sales Timings on Thanksgiving Day 2013
Walmart is kicking off Black Friday 6 p.m. on
Thanksgiving Day -- two hours earlier than last year, the company announced. As
more stores push for Thanksgiving shoppers, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is stepping up
its game for the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. The world's
largest retailer said Tuesday that it will start to offer its holiday
blockbuster deals at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving at its stores, two hours earlier
than last year. It will stagger holiday deals throughout the night and into
"Black Friday" - the day that's traditionally the start of the
holiday shopping season.
Black Friday is our Super Bowl of retail, and
it’s very important to us,” Duncan Mac Naughton, the company’s U.S. chief
merchandising and marketing officer, told reporters on a conference call
Monday. “Almost everybody to date has moved up, at least one hour, if not more.
We thought 6 o’clock was the exact right time to win the weekend.” Walmart
workers may end up getting attention for more than their work during the
holiday.
Not every store is opening on turkey day,
though. A couple of retailers even put out statements specifically noting that
they won't be opening on Thanksgiving so that their employees won't have to
work. Most Walmarts are typically open on Thanksgiving Day, but the company
only started kicking off the Black Friday frenzy on the holiday in recent
years. "We believe it is important for our team members to be able to
spend this time with their loved ones," Travis Smith, CEO and president of
Jo Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, says in a statement. The retailer plans to open
at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
